Disney Funds Vacation Savings Jars

I had a custom Disney Jar request. I now have some NEW Designs! As you know, I LOVE Disney, so designing new savings Jars was FUN!  It was a welcomed distraction and has believe it or not brought me some great stress relief! I still am working on finishing up more. The cutting of the vinyl is the easy part, getting the vinyl on the Jar properly and evenly is the trick, even with the transfer tape. I hope to make these a regular item in my Etsy Shop!

Mini Bar Container {Jar/Bottle} Craft

Totally Pinterest Inspired! I've seen a few "Mini Bar" on Pinterest. When I saw them, I LOVED them. I know so many that would LOVE this as a gift.  I made one for my lil sister and filled it with the tiny lil alcohol bottles and a couple lil wine. Its basic but cute. I whipped it up in just a few hours.

I used Krylon Red Paint to paint the cover.I used Black, Red & White Vinyl for all the lettering. That simple!

Birthday DIY Calendar Sign/Wall Decor

This is my first one of these to make. I have several others in progress but not even close to being finished. This one is almost complete, but not quite. I'm undecided on what to do for the "names" & "dates" and how to "attach" them together under each month. I have several ideas I'm working on but as usual my pain gets in my way of my creativity. You can find many different designs on "Pintrest" which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it cause it gets my creative juices flowing and I've learned many new things. I hate it because somehow I loose days at a time being on there, I start out on Mon. with my cup of coffee and next thing I know its Thurs and time for bed. Just kidding its not that bad but I do loose alot of hours "browsing" and "pinning." Anyways, Just do a search for "birthday signs" and you'll see where I got my inspiration from!

I had this wooden "plaque/sign", I purchased years ago at Craft Warehouse. I painted the "sign" a dark brown (its not as dark as it looks in the picture), the background paper is a lt. blue with white gloss flowers. For the "birthdays" word and mats, I used gold flower "embossed" paper, blue cardstock for the mat. I used white card stock and a sizzix flourish die to make the flourish die cuts. The "letters" are from Sizzix alphabet dies and I used "lagoon" (i think thats the name?) CTMH Cardstock for the shadow letters, and CTMH print (forget what collection the paper is from) for the top letters. I inked all the edges of all the papers because i'm an "inkaholic", if I don't ink the edges, i have this compulsion to do so and its bad. Its not that things don't look good if their not inked but if its mine and I don't i loose sleep over it no matter how great it turned out. Anyways, I then used CTMH Stamp set, Cherish the Day (S1111),  for the "months", i thought it worked perfect for this. Sadly, i havd this stamp set for years and this is only the 2nd time I've used it.

When I finally finish this sign I will post my final choice of how I decided on the "names" & "Dates" and how I decided to go about attaching them.

Candles, Candles & Candles

There is so much you can do with candles or the "candle jars." When decorating candles you need to keep in mind that if its a "burning" candle you need to make sure its for "decorations" only. I often use the "battery operated" candles when decorating the candle itself. I do this for several reasons, one I know it can be used as "decoration" and for "emergency" lighting and its safer than the "burning" candle. Even when decorating the "candle jars" that can hold the "burning" candles you need to be careful too as the glass gets hot when burning a candle inside. Also, depending on what you use for decorating and if it hangs over the top because when a "burning" candle is new the flame can catch fire to anything that maybe "hanging" over the "open" top part of the jar.

Here are a couple candles I've decorated.

This one is for University of Oregon Ducks Fan. This is a "Battery Operated" candle. I Cut out the "duck feet" from Green & Yellow permanent vinyl. I applied it to the candle along with coordinating Yellow & Green Ribbon.  The reason I use permanent vinyl is the adhesive is a bit stronger but because of the "waxy" surface of the candle it can still be "peeled" off just a lil harder than if it was any other vinyl.

This beautiful one is adorned with Aqua elegant piece of lace. I used super strong spray adhesive to be sure the Lace sticks. This too is a "Battery Operated" Candle. The 1st picture the candle is "off" and the 2nd picture is with the candle "on."

   

This is a upcyled/recycle "candle jar".  I used the same elegant Aqua lace as above to decorate the jar. I used the same "spray glue" to adhere the Lace to the glass.  I used white "fun fur" yarn to add some more elegance. I simply doubled the yarn by folding a piece in half and then wrap around the top and tied a simple bow.

Note Card Gift Set

This is pretty simple. Make a set of 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 matching cards. You can make them all the same, have 2 or more different designs. The envelopes can be plain white or off white/cream or they can be colored to match. You can then add a matching stamp, sticker or emboss the flap in the back or even a portion of the envelope on the front left side.

Altered Canvas

SORRY this didn't post yesterday! Not sure why, It was scheduled just never posted

You can do a variety of things with canvas. You can paint it, emboss it, add paper, add bling add pictures, etc.

I've done numerous canvas over the years. Here is one of my favorites! 

I inked the canvas with multiple colored inks. Stamped the with a flourish stamp, embossed the flourishes with embossing powder. Added the large Flowers. Punched Holes in the canvas to add the "jump rings" and added ribbon to give the "jump rings" a better appearance. The middle Canvas has a "vellum quote" added with a piece of ribbon too.

Coasters! 

I had fun making these. I had purchased these "wood" coasters at Craft Warehouse when I first moved back here to Oregon. I had never been in a Craft Warehouse before, quite cool! That was just over 3 years ago. Some days feels like yesterday others feels like a lifetime ago.

Anyhow, as I have been going thru my scrapbook and crafting items the past 6 months or so and destashing i found several sets of them. I've had them sitting out on my desk, many times they've gotten buried under other projects. Then I fond them again just recently for probably the 100th time, but this time I had ideas! Simply because of the paper that I had been cleaning up from another project inspired me to make these. I made 3 sets and am still torn on what to do with the last 4th set.

I picked out my papers and trimmed then and corner rounded them. Then sanded the coasters. Painted both sides and the edges to match the papers. Then I adhered the papers to the coasters. Then I sprayed them with Lacquer from a (spray paint can)! Yes, they have it in a spray paint form now! how Sweet! So much easier than brushing on with a paint brush cleaning the brush in between each coat and worrying about the paint brush marks.

Simple Ornaments!

Find some Glass or Plastic Clear or Colored, all your choice!

Find a Design you Love, Cut fro Vinyl add to Ornament.

Add Rolled up colored and/or pattern strips of paper for Clear Ornaments

This is my Disney Inspired Ornament! I cut the Word "believe" from black vinyl. Then I added "Disney" colors of rolled up strips of cards stock from my scraps stash along with some black pattern paper.

Upcycled Cabinet Door ~ Verse of the Week

I purchased some "used" cabinet doors from Craigslist. I have quite a few, they had an an assortment of "designs" and sizes. I've been slowly painting them into "chalkboards.  My daughter fell in love with this one on Pintrest and ,I myself had seen it, pinned it and thought of her and then made it.

This would make a great "Gift" for any Occassion!

To turn the cabinet door into a chalkboard was pretty simple.

1. Clean with clorox wipe and then wet rag and dried.

2. Sanded the areas I wanted to paint (depends on wether you want to paint the whole cabinet or just the area where you want to turn into a chalkboard.

3. Applied a base coat of plain white base paint to the entire cabinet door.

4. Applied First Coat of Chalk Board Paint. (there are many different brands out there).

5. Applied Second Coat of Chalk Board Paint.

6. Applied Third (final) coat of ChalkBoard Paint.

7. Painted the "outer" parts of the Cabinet door with white paint, took 2 coats).

8. Painted the outer edge of the door and the "decorative frame" part a light blue/aqua.

9. Played in MTC (Make The Cut) Program and experimented with different fonts to get a similar look to what the gal has on hers that she hand painted. (Sorry, I don't recall the fonts I used and No, i didn't write them down anywhere).Found a Label in my own  MTC Files, (see below for Freebie) and designed the "label" on my cabinet door" and then cut it out from white vinyl.

10. Applied the Vinyl to the Cabinet Door.

11. Prepared the chalkboard for writing by taking chalk and rubbing it over the entire chalkboard area twice, cleaning in between.

For the "label" I used, without the words, just the blank "label"
