Tri-Shutter Cards Tutorial

TRI-SHUTTER CARD INSTRUCTIONS

• 12 x 12" piece of Cardstock
• Coordinating Patterned Papers (for accenting)
• Scoring tool
• Paper Trimmer
• Bone Folder
• Adhesive

Cut The 12 x12 Cardstock to 5 ½” x 12”

Place 5 ½” x 12" piece of cardstock horizontally in your Scoring tool and Score at 2”, 4”, 8” and 10”.

Turn cardstock a ¼ turn. Cut between the score marks at 2” and 10”  @ 1 ½ “ from the top edge of the cardstock. Repeat on the other long side.

Using card base as a template, trace the section with the T-shaped fold onto patterned paper. If you wish to have an “edge” of the card base show, trim 1/16” to 1/8” off each side of the pattern paper. Cut two of this shape. Or cut (2 pieces) 1 7/8” x 5 ¼ “ and cut (2 pieces) 1 7/8” x 2 ¼” (these measurements leave an “edge” of the cardstock base.

Cut 4 pieces of patterned paper 1 3/8” x 1 3/8” to cover the base of the cardstock. Or to leave an “edge” cut pattern paper 1 5/8” x 1 5/8”

Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper 1 3/8” x 4” to cover the base of the cardstock. Or to leave an “edge” cut pattern paper 1 5/8” x 3 7/8”

Cut 1 piece of patterned paper 2 3/8” x 3 7/8” to cover the base of the cardstock. Or to leave an “edge” cut pattern paper  2 5/8” x 3 ¾”


Dry fit all of the pieces before adhering to card base. Once You know it fits go ahead and adhere all pieces down.

I have to tell you, vintage is not my forte, but I love seeing it and was so honored when Jess asked me to be part of this hop. I had so many ideas running thru my head with so many project ideas. I started one project in Studio J, (which is a Digital Scrapbooking program by CTMH, which you can play with for free HERE), but I realised I can't post it cause someone will see it and they can't. So I played around with some of the new CTMH papers and stamps and ended up reverting to one of my favorite papers that I feel has a vintage theme, I forget the name of the paper pack but it is retired. Though originally I was going to use the new "BLISS" level 2 paper pack because I think its beautiful "vintage" paper pack. Anyways, my mom sent so many printed pictures from when i was a kid and long before that I need to sort and store in a better place than an old U-haul box. I thought What a great project for this to store some of those "vintage" photos from when my mom was a kid and when my grandparents were kids. I chose to alter a CTMH My Creations Recipe/Photo Box (Z1322). Here is the finished Box:

I know its supposed to be "Valentine Themed" but valentine's day is about love and I do Love my family (sometimes, but don't let them know). J/K.  This Box is full of "Loved" photos that someday will end up in a Scrapbook Album someday, I hope soon. I just realised as I posted the pictures i forgot to add my "pearls". will have to do that in the morning and update my pictures.

Altering Scrapbooking Tools

I altered both my ATG Gun and my Big Kick Sizzix machine. I used spray paint to alter them. I purchased my items before those fun colors came out on the tools.  Contemplating having a raffle to alter my Cricut. I don't have the funds to purchase a new or used expression and altering it with spray paint could possible break it. Thats why I was thinking of doing a raffle where everyone can purchase e-raffle tickets and then have a fun drawing with some prizes. I'll see what everyone thinks? Anyways, I made a couple videos of altering my tools. The first 2 are altering my ATG gun and the other 2 are altering my Big Kick Sizzix. not the greatest videos but i think you'll get the drift. I don't have any video editing software and i used my old camera still learning the one my sister gave me, but really haven't had much time in learning it. Anyways i'll stop babbling and you can watch my videos.

Color Choices

I did a video on how choosing the right color to mat your photo with makes a big difference. It can be the difference of your picture not being the focus of the layout and getting lost or making the photo pop and the focus of your layout. Since Scrapbooking is about pictures your photos should be the main focus. Hope you enjoy the video and it is helpful.

Quick Emboss Card with video

I did a video on how to make this quick card! The video is not the best. the camera moved somehow after I clicked the button. I just don't feel like redoing it because I had to redo it about 3 times cause first my batteries died, then the camera just shut off and then I bumbed the camera and knocked it over. But its short quick and easy I think the point gets across.  I have another video for another card the video is much better I promise! That i will be posting later.

Circle Pop Book Tuturial

I've been making a few of these fun Circle Pop Books! they are so easy and fun!

and here's the written instructions:

Circle Pop Book!Circle cutting system( Cricut or machine similar or cutting mat, hobby blade, and plate)

• 4 pieces of cardstock for base of project
• Bone Folder
•  Adhesive
• Scissors
• Patterned Paper
• Ribbon

Step-by-Step

Step 1

Cut four circles out of cardstock. Your finished project will be 1/4 of the circle's original size.

Use your Electric Cutting machine like the cricut to cut circles or  use a plate, place cutting mat on table. Put cardstock on cutting mat. Place plate on top of cardstock. Press down on your hobby blade all around the plate.

Step 2

Fold circle in half vertically using your bone folder.

Step 3

Fold circle in half horizontally using bone folder.

Step 4

Cut on fold line up to center point.

Step 5

Half inch down from fold line cut from right edge of circle to the middle fold line. This makes a flap on the lower right side.

Step 6

Cut at least 45 degree angle cuts on both sides of the flap.  You should now have 4 circles that look the same.

Step 7

Fold up the bottom left section.

Step 8

With your bone folder fold the flap down in half. This will make a mountain fold.

Step 9

Decorate your circles.
It is important that you decorate this project before assembly and not place any decorations on your fold line. Use any paper or accessories you desire.

Step 10

Place adhesive on flap close to the inner edge. This must be a permanent adhesive or they will fall apart.

Step 11

Slide the lower left hand section over the flap. The flap will be on the bottom.

Step 12

You now have 4 panels. You will attach the 1st panel to the 2nd one, the 2nd one to the 3rd one and the 3rd one to the 4th one. The 1st one is the front of your book. The 4th one is the back of the book.

Place adhesive all around the edge of the panel and 2 stripes in the center. Line them up on the bottom corner and edge. Then smooth them together.

Step 13

Cut 24 inches of ribbon. Center the ribbon around the book (if Desired). Tape the ribbon to the front and the back panels (not the spine).

Step 14

Decorate the front and back of the book as desired. Leave the book open or you can tie it open so it sits nicely on a table.

CTMH New Summer Color Palette

Many of you might have heard of the new Summer Color Palette CTMH is realeasing. That means the old one is retired!  I totally had forgotten about them, (silly me!) till somone asked me why they couldn't order a certain color! In a Minute Layouts with Scraps

I did a video on how you can easily make some layouts with mostly larger peices of scraps. I'm going to do a small series on scraps! we all have them and alot of us avoid them or forget them! No MOre! Lets get them out and use them up!! Sorry about the beginning i thought the view would be different. So my draws are sideways on the video

Ecraft cutting machine?

what are your thoughts on this machine?  i like no more mats! not that i spend alot on them and this would be investing into another machine and learning it. though it doesn't look difficult to learn.

A little About ME!

So, I thought it would be nice for you all to "get to know me"! So, I did a video and tried to talk about myself. I did about 100 takes and really not satisfied completely with any, but this one is the best out of them all> Hope its not too "cheesy"?! Hope I don't sound to "pathetic" either!  I'm not one that likes to talk about myself, so this was really hard challenge!

Waterfall Card Tutorial

These are fun cards to make! Simple, easy and FUN!  CAn do them for any occassion! I chose to do Halloween on the tutorial because Halloween is coming up fast!

Waterfall Card Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• 5 ¼" x 8"  card stock
• Bone folder
• Scoring tool
• 9 "x 2" coordinating card stock
• 4 squares 1 ¾" x 1 ¾ "of white card stock
• 3 ¾" x 5" coordinating card stock
• 4 stamps that are no bigger than 1 ¾" x 1 ¾ "square
• Stamp pad
• Color utensils
• 4 squares 2" of coordinating card stock
• Double-sided tape
• 1"  x 3 ½" coordinating card stock
• 2 brads in a coordinating color
• 4" ribbon
• Stapler

Step 1    Fold the 5 ¼ " x 8" card stock in half to create a 5 ¼ " x  4" card. Crease the fold with a bone folder to make it crisp.

Step 2
Score the 9" x 2" strip of cardstock at  2", 2 ¾ ", 3 ½ " and 4 ¼ " from one of the ends of the strip. Fold the card stock back and forth at each of these score lines. Leave the card stock folded at the 4 ¼ " score line.

Step 3
 Stamp your images on the 1 ¾ " x 1 ¾ " squaresof card stock. Color in the stamped images with you choice of coloring utensils.

Step 4
Attach each stamped square of cardstock, with double-sided tape, to one of the 2" x 2" squares of card stock centered to create a sort of frame around the stamped card stock.

Step 5
Use double-sided tape to attach the bottom stamped image of your waterfall to the 2" x  2" section of the 9" x  2" strip created by the first score line.Attach the next image to the strip with double-sided tape just along the top edge of the square. Place that image just below the score line. Continue attaching the last two images the same way as the second image.

Step 6
Attach the 1" x  3 ½ " strip of card stock to the 3 ¾ " x 5 "card stock 1" from the bottom with a brad at each end of the strip.

Step 7 
Attach the 3 ¾ " x  5"  piece of card stock to the front of the card,centered, with double-sided tape. The end of the card stock with the strip attached should go at the bottom end of the card.

Step 8
Slide the unfolded half of the 9" x  2"  strip of card stock that has the stamped images attached through the strip of card stock attached to the front of the card with the brads. Use double-sided tape to attach the bottom edge of the strip with the stamped images to the strip attached to the front of the card.The bottom edge of the stamped images strip should line up with the bottom edge of the strip attached to the front of the card.

Step 9
Fold a 4"  length of ribbon in half and staple it to the bottom of the part of the 9" x 2" strip that is threaded through the horizontal strip on the front of the card. This functions as a pull to cue the recipient of the card to pull the strip down.
