Deciding on What Machine is Best for you

I had a customer ask me how to explain how dies work and so I couldn't figure out how to explain the manual die cutting machine, I think I was just too tired and my brain was in its jello mode. I could explain how to basically use a die but I didn't feel it answered her question fully so off I went to research the words I needed to explain and while doing so i found some great Links about Die cutting machines! So I thought these are so great I have to share them!

This one HERE is for just Electronic die Cut machines.

This one Here is for just Manual machines

This One HERE is just Manual Machines too (includes more machines)

30 Days of Handmade Gift Giving Blog Hop ~ Day 1

Today is the First day of 30 Days of Blog Hopping!

Each day You will find a link to blog to visit with some awesome "gift" project with some sort of "recipe" or Instructions on how they made it. Some will have their projects available for sale too! This hop is quite different than most because you only have one blog to visit in one day. So you get to really get the project, maybe even try one yourself and check out the rest of their blog too! Maybe follow the blogs. Please, be kind and leave them some "love Behind" (comment on their project/post).

Sorry for posting a little later today, we had a massive downpour of rain an hour before Trick or Treat started. Which in turn knocked out our internet for several hours, not a happy camper as I was almost done uploading my video. We didn't get it back til about 10pm thinking I could try to upload before i went to bed, ha! joke was on me, i was up til midnight trying to get it to go but the internet kept going out. Guess who will be getting a call yup, Quest my internet provider! that's what i get for making my video so late, hopefully I can get the rest banged out and uploaded in a better time manner for my next blog post. If there is any problems with the embedded video check my You Tube Channel for Countdown Calendar Tutorial HERE.

Today I am the first Blog you will be going to. So just get comfy and sit back and enjoy my Countdown Calendars.

I used a 5x7 clear acrylic frame which you can get at (maybe, depending on your area and stores), most craft stores, Dollar Tree, 99 cent store ( I never find them at these cheap stores.), Department Stores. They range from $1 (which I never find those ones, but I know others have) to about $3 depending again on your area. Just some of your scrap papers, some diecuts of your choice, ink, if you like to ink your stuff like me, border punch, ribbon, etc. whatever you want to make your style Countdown calendar. To be able to attach jump rings you will need a Cropodile to punch thru the acrylic frame and your finished "mat". While making you design remember to keep in mind where it is your going to have your countdown numbers and the style and size. I did a video tutorial, (scroll past the pictures to the video) which I hope I explain it well enough.

Altering Scrapbooking Tools

I altered both my ATG Gun and my Big Kick Sizzix machine. I used spray paint to alter them. I purchased my items before those fun colors came out on the tools.  Contemplating having a raffle to alter my Cricut. I don't have the funds to purchase a new or used expression and altering it with spray paint could possible break it. Thats why I was thinking of doing a raffle where everyone can purchase e-raffle tickets and then have a fun drawing with some prizes. I'll see what everyone thinks? Anyways, I made a couple videos of altering my tools. The first 2 are altering my ATG gun and the other 2 are altering my Big Kick Sizzix. not the greatest videos but i think you'll get the drift. I don't have any video editing software and i used my old camera still learning the one my sister gave me, but really haven't had much time in learning it. Anyways i'll stop babbling and you can watch my videos.

Are you Ready for some FOOTBALL?

Ok, so its not Sunday or Monday night, not even Thursday or Saturday but I have some football for you anyways! We are HUGE football fans here...mostly NFL, my Husband and son do watch some college ball but not me! Anyways, My son is a HUGE Saints fan, he's been one since they drafted Reggie Bush which was his favorite player, now he has too many to keep track of! Its quite fun watching him learn football, the rules, injuries, plays and all that. Since Christmas is going to be pretty small here I thought I'd make my kids lots of fun Unique gifts, nothing thier rich friends won't be able to get! I also, have a couple nephews too that i made some football stuff for cause they like football too. So here are just a few of the stuff I have finished:

Cut with vinyl for my nephew

Cut with vinyl for my other nephew. sorry its a bit blurry forgot to take picture before i put the transfer tape on.
I sell vinyl cuts too. Prices vary on size, number of colors, etc. For a quote Email me at TheScrapoholic@gmail.com

Cricut Robotz Cartridge
Cricut Robotz also face mask and shoelace designed in MTC!

Green Bay Packer Robot front flap opens to put small "giftables" in.

Close up of the Head. Used Google eyes and markers Don't you like his 5 o'clock shadow

Sholaces I designed in Make The Cut (MTC!)

Steelers Robotz Robot front flap opens to put small "giftables" in.

Close up of the Head. Used Google eyes and markers Don't you like his 5 o'clock shadow

Sholaces I designed in Make The Cut (MTC!)

I do sell these Robotz in different ways. If you'd like a football one or regular one jsut shoot me an email. TheScrapoholic@gmail.com  I sell them unassembled (everything is cut, scored and inked (if desired)) you just add adhesive. for $4ea..  Assembled is $6.  Both include first class shipping with no tracking tracking is an additional $.80 as i do it thru paypal and that is how much more it costs me. I don't go to the post office because I usually don't drive and 2 i don't like going out in  public due to my condition, even though i take meds i still panic and have major anxiety of someone bumping into me and hitting my arm and causing more pain.

This is unfinished Ornament I made with the round Coke bottles for my son.

I used Black, Gold and Clear "Skittles" with foam filler (for the squishy pillows) and gold glitter)

I used Black and Gold Metallic vinyl to cut Saints Symbol and "Who Dat?" and spray painted the cap with gold paint

This is a Canvas I made for my son. I took some step by step photos. I used 2 canvas', a 16 x20 wood framed canvas and a 8x10 flat canvas which was popped up using 3-D glue dots.
This is the large "base" canvas. I cut Saints emblem and word out of vinyl as a stencil

I spray painted just around the edge of the large canvas. No need to waste paint in the middle as it will be covered by the other canvas later.

Removed the Vinyl for the "white" to show thru

Added the 8x10 flat canvas and inked the edges in browns for a look of dirt

I matted "trading cards" of Saints Players and adhered them to the canvas with glue dots ( i f ind they hold best to canvas) and added the Big Saints emblem (cut in metallic Gold vinyl)

Added the outline on the side words and "who dat" with black vinyl and the inner lettering with the Gold Metallic vinyl and also "New Orleans" and the emblem in layerd vinly and the lil helmet i cut off a package of the trading cards and popped it up.
I can also sell these canvas.  I can quote a price because it all depends on the detail of the work and how much you want, how big, etc. but Say for one like this would be $35 plus shipping. Again if interested shoot me an email TheScrapoholic@gmail.com

Ponsettia Paper Wreath

I made these beautiful wreaths out of paper designed it in CDS (Cricut Design Studio), using Disney Pooh & Friends cricut cartridge and cut it out of CTMH cardstock on my Cricut Expression, as the Ribbon Inspiration for Challenge ME Monday at Fantabulous Cricut Blog.  I did many variations, as I am selling these at a craft fair this weekend. I inked the edges and on some I embossed the flowers with either Swiss Dots or Textile textures Cuttlebug emboss folders. I added some mini flowers I purchased from Michaels in the wedding section. I added either a ribbon knot or some CTMH Pearls for the centers. I used 3-d Zots to attach the bottom flower to the base and the smaller flower to the larger flower. i used small zots to attach the mini flowers together and to the center and also the ribbon knots. The CTMH Pearls are self adhesive.
If you would like the Cut file for CDS (not sure if cut files work with the gyspy?) but you can get the file HERE
I am working on a MTC file for this too but its difficult getting the shapes just right so soon, i hope to have one available.

 Here is a few Pictures:

Here is video tutorial on how to make these. They are so easy. If you don't have a cricut or Poh & friends cartridge. i will me making "kits" available later today to purchase so you can make them too.

Tutorial on How to Trace in MTC!

Sorry, haven't been posting alot these last couple days between the heat wave and having no A/C, which is finally fixed YEAH! I also, tripped and fell over one of the gazillion fan cords we had blowing and yup, fell right on my already injured arm. I think i sprained my wrist and possibly dislocated my sholder?!  All I know is it hurt like the dickens and its swollen and I can't ice it because my arm does NOT like the cold. So I have been resting and doing as little as possible. Though drives me insane to sit still so this morning i did a quick video on how to trace with MTC! (make The Cut).

Color Choices

I did a video on how choosing the right color to mat your photo with makes a big difference. It can be the difference of your picture not being the focus of the layout and getting lost or making the photo pop and the focus of your layout. Since Scrapbooking is about pictures your photos should be the main focus. Hope you enjoy the video and it is helpful.

Quick Emboss Card with video

I did a video on how to make this quick card! The video is not the best. the camera moved somehow after I clicked the button. I just don't feel like redoing it because I had to redo it about 3 times cause first my batteries died, then the camera just shut off and then I bumbed the camera and knocked it over. But its short quick and easy I think the point gets across.  I have another video for another card the video is much better I promise! That i will be posting later.

Here's my not so great short video

Circle Pop Book Tuturial

I've been making a few of these fun Circle Pop Books! they are so easy and fun!

Here's a lil video tutorial

and here's the written instructions:

Circle Pop Book!Circle cutting system( Cricut or machine similar or cutting mat, hobby blade, and plate)
  • 4 pieces of cardstock for base of project
  • Bone Folder
  •  Adhesive
  • Scissors
  • Patterned Paper
  • Ribbon

Step-by-Step

Step 1

Cut four circles out of cardstock. Your finished project will be 1/4 of the circle's original size.
Use your Electric Cutting machine like the cricut to cut circles or  use a plate, place cutting mat on table. Put cardstock on cutting mat. Place plate on top of cardstock. Press down on your hobby blade all around the plate.

Step 2

Fold circle in half vertically using your bone folder.

Step 3

Fold circle in half horizontally using bone folder.

Step 4

Cut on fold line up to center point.

Step 5

Half inch down from fold line cut from right edge of circle to the middle fold line. This makes a flap on the lower right side.

Step 6

Cut at least 45 degree angle cuts on both sides of the flap.  You should now have 4 circles that look the same.

Step 7

Fold up the bottom left section.

Step 8

With your bone folder fold the flap down in half. This will make a mountain fold.

Step 9

Decorate your circles.
It is important that you decorate this project before assembly and not place any decorations on your fold line. Use any paper or accessories you desire.

Step 10

Place adhesive on flap close to the inner edge. This must be a permanent adhesive or they will fall apart.

Step 11

Slide the lower left hand section over the flap. The flap will be on the bottom.

Step 12

You now have 4 panels. You will attach the 1st panel to the 2nd one, the 2nd one to the 3rd one and the 3rd one to the 4th one. The 1st one is the front of your book. The 4th one is the back of the book.

Place adhesive all around the edge of the panel and 2 stripes in the center. Line them up on the bottom corner and edge. Then smooth them together.

Step 13

Cut 24 inches of ribbon. Center the ribbon around the book (if Desired). Tape the ribbon to the front and the back panels (not the spine).

Step 14

Decorate the front and back of the book as desired. Leave the book open or you can tie it open so it sits nicely on a table.
