 Short Bio ~
A 40-something mom of 2 daughters, 2 stepsons, a mini schnauzer and a Tibetan spaniel.  Wife to a wonderful man, Erik whom I've known for 8+ years, and been married for 3+ years.  He is my life, my love and my world!!  We live in Peoria, Arizona with my mother and my older daughter, with Erik's younger son visiting us every other weekend.

How did you learn to do Scrapbooking (or Craft?)
Basically self taught.  My sister in law sent me cards she created and I thought, 'hey, I can do this!'  


How Long have you been Scrapbooking (or Crafting?)
For about 2+ years now.   I've owned rubber stamps (not very many!) for quite a few years and would stamp stationery and envelopes.


What "style" would you describe your Personal crafting?
Style...Hmmmm. eclectic is a good description.  It's always an evolving process for me. I can HONESTLY say I have never ever duplicated a card I've created.  So each one is a one of a kind!!!   


Do you do any Digital Scrapbooking or other digital media art?
Well, I *DID* create a couple of photo books using a program called mypublisher.com  for my mom and me.  I wrote the info regarding each photo, laid it out, and had it published and bound.  One was for my honeymoon, one was for a cruise my mom and I took to Alaska, and one was about my dog, Daisy (the Tibby!)   Many years ago I was the newsletter editor/creator for my daughter's Girl Scout community and for their elementary school's PTA.  I also worked on the newsletter and website for a now defunct homeschooling group to which I belonged when I lived in Augusta, Georgia. 


What are your 3 favorite projects and why?
One is a side-step card I created using Stephanie Barnard's The Stamps of Life located here:  http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3045/5826919491_571755f4c9_b.jpg
It incorporated a new style of card I learned from my "Weekly Inklings" sent to me from Splitcoaststampers.com.  I love the colors (pink and brown)...and I got to play with Twine!


Another is THIS card: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5101/5827470040_f64e4abfd3_b.jpg which I gave to a friend of mine for her birthday.  The stamp set is from Stampin' Up which I borrowed from a friend.  I used colored pencils and odorless paint thinner to blend the pencils to soften the look.  I also enjoy the texture of the 'waves' behind the stamped picture.  That's from a Fiskar's texture plate I've had for a long time.  The ribbon is from Close To My Heart.  I bought the white color, because I can use my Bic Markers to change the color to anything I need. 


My 3rd favorite project is http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3640/5827469316_a4c2a2ec5e_z.jpg which is a birthday card I created using another stamp set from The Stamps of Life.  (I've been a club member for just over 1 year now with TSOL.)  This card has a hidden magnet that holds it together.  It was the first card I made using a magnet to hold a gateway fold card together. 


What are some of the drawbacks to the craft you find?
The competition for publication.  There are some who just HAVE That knack to make anything beautiful out of nothing.  Another drawback is wanting various items when I'm running out of room and money!!!  It also can be frustrating looking at all the supplies I own and I can't get anything to 'work' together!!! 


What are some of the enjoyments to the craft you find?
The pleasure of creating something that someone else will enjoy.  THIS is one of the main reasons I create cards and not scrapbooks.  I can give away my cards to others, via in bulk, or just mail them.  With scrapbooking, it's something that I would make for myself for ME to enjoy.   I also enjoy learning new folding techniques, and coloring techniques. 

Do you use sketches?
I do use sketches sometimes.  I like the challenges regarding sketches, and sometimes colors.   


Where do you find Inspiration?
A lot of the newer ideas have come from reading magazines or emailed newsletters to which I subscribe. 


Do you belong on any "Design teams" now or in the past?
No, the Scrapaholic's team is the first Design Team in which I've ever participated, and I'm thrilled I was chosen! 


When you lose your "mojo" how do you get it back?
I attend a 'card workshop' once a month at a friend's house. It's more 'assembling' than creating, but it's fellowship which is fine.
A challenge will spur creativity as well.


Can you briefly describe how your process of creating begins? Such as with color, theme, etc choice?
I have a lot of 'doo-dads' already made--such as background die cuts already made to grab and create, along with embossed pieces of paper.  If I'm looking at a word/phrase stamp set, I can usually envision a card.  I do find it's easier to create a card when I have a 'saying' in mind.

What are your some ideas you share with others?
One idea I stumbled upon is whenever I am creating 'phrases' with words to stamp, I will lay the clear stamps upside down (stamping side down) and arrange it on a non stick mat first.  THEN once it's laid out the way I like it, I press a clear acrylic block down on the layout.  This way I can just stamp it all at once instead of trying to line up each individual word to stamp.
--Whenever I buy something new (for instance, the Action Wobbles), I will share a couple with a few of my friends.


What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in this crafting?
I suggest to visit someone who has a plethora of items so you can 'play' with their stuff and ask questions while working with their things.  Go to craft workshops to experiment with various techniques and decide what you like.
I wish I had known this before I bought my electronic die cutting machine! I realized I just didn't NEED an electronic cutting machine. It sat more on the cart than it got used, so I gave it away to a charity, along with all the stuff that went with it (cartridges, supplies, etc.)  The charity got a nice donation, and I got it out of my house.
I finally figured out that  I would rather emboss with my manual machines and cut dies for backgrounds/sayings/pictures.  


Any organizational tips you'd like to share?
-Try to buy the same size/brand each time you buy containers.  This way they'll stack easily on top of each other.
-Buy a label maker & USE it!  I have labeled my inks on 2 sides so whenever it's stacked, I can read the name of the color.  I also took a sheet of white cardstock, and stamped a shape in EACH color on the sheet and labeled the colors.  So if I need a 'green' I will hold my project piece up against the greens to see which one will work best to coordinate.
-I buy plastic baskets and store many things in them.  Usually the "mart" stores sell them 2 for $2.00 for the regular size, or 3 for $1.00 for the slim baskets.  I will store projects in these baskets and just move the baskets out of the way when I need to work on a different project.
-Try to clean up after EACH and every project.  Yes, this is time consuming, but it sure is easier to start with a 'clean slate' so to speak when inspiration strikes. 
-Create folders on the computer browser for your crafting bookmarks.  For instance, I have "die cuts" in one folder, "Color techniques" in another folder, etc. 
-Something that I wanted to do for a long time, but never found the RIGHT thing was to take an old wine rack--the kind that look like diamond shapes that bottles can rest in, and use THAT for my drawing/coloring utensils.  I saw this done in someone's craft room and thought, "THAT is perfect."  The closest I came to that was a 9 drawer container I found at Hobby Lobby.  It sits on my craft desk and it works for now.  The drawers are being used as containers.  I have the front of the container supported on silicone 'feet' to prop the front up higher than the back, so the pens/markers/pencils gravitate towards the back of the shelf. 


Any Budget Cost cutting tips?
-Check out the "DEAL OF THE DAY" crafting websites.  I've scored MANY items at such a bargain price compared to retail with these places.  I have these websites listed under my bookmarks in its own folder.  I just use the "open all in tabs" option in that folder each morning to see what's available. 
-Wait for SALES, or COUPONS to use on things you want.  I'm a fan of pinkbydesignstore.com's stamps.  Today they had a sale of 15% off (coupon code required) and over a certain price point, they offer free shipping.  I've been eyeing a few of her stamp sets.  Since I'm a member of her Stamp of the month club, I get a discount...I ordered multiple sets, got free shipping and saved 15%, which ALMOST equaled another set of stamps.
-There are some items that you can buy 'gently used' on ebay.  Just make sure to read the fine print.  Some ebay sellers offer free shipping. 
-For things like colored pencils, I found some in the 'art' department that were SO much cheaper than in the Scrapbook section.  Same thing with some other tools. 
-Buy OFF season.  Now is the time to get winter holiday scrapping items at a good price.  Check the 'discount' stores like Kohl's, Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, etc.


What made you decide to start a Blog, website, Facebook Fan page, etc?
I had a personal blog, and realized I wanted to keep my personal life separate from my crafting life.  So I created one through google.  I love taking pictures and creating cards.  I figured I could combine these two hobbies to showcase my best work.

What are you Known as in "forums"/"blogs"?

The title of my blog is "California Scrappin'" - My nickname on some sites is GCinderella21.

Short Bio ~ I work full-time as a Sales Assistant. I'm happily married to the love of my life. My hobbies are photography, scrapbooking, card making & geneaology. I'm a Memory Works Independent Scrapbook Consultant.

 My favorites: Favorite paper lines are Bo Bunny, Echo Park, October Afternoon and Teresa Collins. Favorite techniques are misting, inking, distressing & layering.

 How did you learn about being  a consultant for Memory Works?

 I learned about Memory Works from a posting on one of the scrapbooking message boards. I reviewed all of the information on their website and decided that they were the best fit for me. I have a full-time job already and Memory Works fit my schedule with their policies and minimal requirements.

How Long have you been a Consultant?

 I have been a consultant for just a few months now. I started in mid-May 2011.

 What "style" would you describe you being a Consultant?

 I think that I would describe my "style" as enthusiastic! I'm excited to promote the great line of products that Memory Works has to offer and have my fellow scrappers and card makers get creative! I love seeing all of the new projects that can be done with all of the great new paper lines!

What are your 3 favorite products and why?

 My 3 favorite products are the Simple Stories Kits, the We R Memory Keepers albums & page protectors and the new Bo Bunny paper lines. The Simple Stories kits are just amazing! They offer so many possibilities with the assortment of papers, journal tags & embellishments! They go hand in hand with the We R Memory Keepers albums & page protectors. The leather and linen albums are gorgeous! Plus, the page protectors come in various assortments and sizes, so you can create a different album every time! Bo Bunny has some gorgeous paper lines right now! The "Timepiece" line is great for vintage photos. The "Zoology" line is great for those summer trips to the zoo! The "Liberty" line is great for Memorial Day, 4th of July and any other patriotic theme! Amazing stuff!

What are some of the drawbacks to being a consultant do you find?

The biggest drawback I'm finding right now is finding the right way to advertise. I'm on Facebook and I'm listed online in the shopping links for Scrapbooking.com. I'm trying to place some ads in newsletters and online magazines, but it's hard to figure out what will be the best venue to gain a good customer base.

What are some of the enjoyments and benefits to being a consultant?

One of the main enjoyments of being a consultant is meeting creative people! I love networking with fellow scrappers and card makers - whether it's online or in person! Also, I get to learn new techniques and tricks from others! I'm always learning new ways to make my scrapbooking better! Of course, the benefit of getting my own supplies at a discount is always nice too! I get to see all of the new products and premiere them on my blog and on Facebook! The Memory Works Express Kits are exciting to post the sneak peek and then post the actual contents which never seem to disappoint!

Do you host on-line gatherings or just in-home?

 Is there a benefit to either? Since I'm relatively new, I haven't had the chance to host any type of event. But, I will be a vendor at a 3-day retreat and at a Diabetes Fundraiser Crop. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and being able to showcase the great line of products that Memory Works has to offer!

How do you grow your "team" or is that something you don't worry about?

With Memory Works, I don't have to worry about growing a "team." That's one of the benefits that Memory Works offered that I really liked. Their consultant offering is all about you and your comfort level.

What are some ideas you share with others?

 I share tons of techniques for layouts and card making all the time. I love showing others everything that I've learned. It's fun to pass on ideas and see how other people take them and run with them! I also like to share organizational ideas because scrapbooking can get out of hand in a hurry! I think we all have that stash that is somewhat out of control!

What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in being a consultant?

Since I'm still a newbie myself, I would just advise to do all of your research before making any decisions regarding inventory, advertising, etc. Any decision that requires outlaying finances should be carefully considered. Also, be sure that you have ample time to invest. You get out what you put in!

Any organizational tips you'd like to share?

Being organized is the key to being creative. I hate trying to get a project started when I can't find any of the supplies that I want to use! For me, I organize by theme. I have baskets and bins separated by holidays and occasions. I have all of my cardstock sorted by color. I tend to keep kits together until I just have pieces left and then I separate those into whatever type of embellishment they belong to. I have buttons, flowers and ribbon in their own containers so I can just reach for what I'm looking to use. I have all of the supplies that I take to crops in my rolling tote and Snapware cases. The Snapware cases are AWESOME! They can be found at JoAnn's. They stack on top of each other and have a handle at the top! I also love the storage blocks at Michael's. I'm organizing my scrap room with these!

Any Budget Cost cutting tips?

Look around your house for embellishment items. You'd be amazed at what you will find! Paper towel tubes are great for storing borders. Toilet paper rolls are also great for storing pens. Bubble wrap is always a great embellishment and a great way to add dimension to your pages! Tissue paper can be made into some great flowers if you layer different colors. Miscellaneous buttons can be used for the centers of flowers or to hold bows in place. Always save string, twine or any other ribbon! There's always a scrapping use for it! Bottle caps are all the rage now, so save them too! The best advice is to use what you have before you decide to spend!

How did you learn to do Scrapbooking (or Craft?)

I have taken some Close To My Heart classes and others but I really have learned most from trial and error!  I can usually duplicate something (a technique, etc.) without instructions but I love to learn new, innovative things in the industry and teach others too! 

How Long have you been Scrapbooking (or Crafting?)

5 years scrapbooking and I’ve been crafting all my life!

What "style" would you describe your Personal crafting?

I vary in my style from Shabby Chic to a bit vintage and then Modern.  It depends on how I’m feeling!

Do you do any Digital Scrapbooking or other digital media art?

I dabble a bit in Hybrid but I’m more interested in the art of the pages physically and not necessarily digitally.

What are your 3 favorite projects and why?

I love layouts and some of them I’ve done are FABULOUS.  I used left over pumpkin seeds to make a flower on a fall page once, and I love that touch of memorabilia and innovation as well.  I create a lot of home décor too, so I really enjoy a canvas scrapped piece I’ve made.  I also have several cards I enjoy, especially with detail-that’s what it’s all about!

What are some of the drawback to the craft you find?

TIME and SPACE!  There are not enough hours in the day or room in the house for all of the ideas in my head!

What are some of the enjoyments to the craft you find?

The creation itself is enjoyable but I REALLY love SHOPPING for my collections too!  I love inspiring others, that probably brings the most enjoyment, second only to the friendships I’ve made-that’s the BEST part for sure!

Do you use sketches?

Sometimes I use sketches but more often I just get to going and figure it out on the page.

Where do you find Inspiration?

I L-O-V-E personal blogs and any of the Northridge Publications like Scrapbook Trends, Cards, etc.

Do you belong on any "Design teams" now or in the past?

I proudly design for Quick Quotes Scrapbook Company (I’m their Social Media Director/Coordinator)

When you loose your "mojo" how do you get it back?

I often gain my creativity momentum by hopping through blogs and magazines, as well as going through my photo stash.

Can you briefly describe how your process of creating begins? Such as with color, theme, etc choice?

I begin in various ways.  It may be a photo that I find coordinating papers and embellishments to go with, or it may be the papers and embellishments that I make my kids take photos to coordinate!

What are your top 3 favorite tools?

Cricut machine (I own 5 of them)

Cuttlebug (because dry embossing adds such a FABULOUS yet easy touch)

my paper piercer (though I’ve injured myself with it MANY times, it is ALWAYS so useful for EVERYTHING)

What are your Top 3 favorite embellishments?

BUTTONS, Brads and Ribbon

What are your some ideas you share with others?

It’s all about the details dear friends! 

You know how sometimes a project just doesn’t feel right when you think you’re done?! 

ADD MORE, it always works, without fail!  And, DO NOT limit yourself by insisting you scrapbook chronologically.  Create whatever you want whenever you want and you’ll find it’s more peaceful.

What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in this crafting?

Don’t be overwhelmed!  Everyone began somewhere and not with the THOUSANDS of dollars in their stash that they have now!

Any organizational tips you'd like to share?

I store my Cricut cartridges in an over-the-door metal shelving unit and it’s PERFECT!  I store all of my paper collections in CTMH storage bags.  They are thick plastic and sealable, making everything safe and keeping the embellishments with the papers, etc.  I then categorize them by manufacturer, in alphabetical order!

Any Budget Cost cutting tips?

I’m hosting an upcoming video where I can show you how to cut 4, 5x7 mats from 1, 12x12 sheet of paper!  Heidi Swapp showed me herself!

What made you decide to start a Blog, website, Facebook Fan page, etc?

I LOVE the interaction with everyone, across the world!  Having my ‘Fabulous Friends’ (as I call them on my blog) is just humbling and AMAZING.  I LOVE hearing from ALL of you and giving away prizes.  The community is the BEST part and I love the opportunity I have to share and inspire other creative minds.

Sure!  I have an Etsy site that I need to focus on more and I’ll occasionally participate in craft fairs.  I am a demonstrator for Close To My Heart so I sell through there as well. I have also made custom creations and enjoy that opportunity to help others preserve their memories and enjoy hand-made in their home!

 I've been a PartyLite consultant for almost seven years. I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband of 13 years and two daughters, ages 8 and 5. I love being a stay at home mom while earning money as a PartyLite consultant!

How did you learn to do Scrapbooking (or Craft?)

 Self-taught; my friend in Stampin Up, Amy Ettelson, has given me some great tips as well!

How Long have you been Scrapbooking (or Crafting?)

 Since my oldest daughter was born, about 8 years ago.

What "style" would you describe your Personal crafting?

 It depends on the mood I'm in, but usually I have a "clean lines" style, and sometimes I like to mix it up with lots of embellishments and a rainbow of colors on the page.

Do you do any Digital Scrapbooking or other digital media art?

 Not usually. I've dabbled but I like doing it the old fashioned way.

What are your 3 favorite projects and why?

 All scrapbooks: one was for my husband's grandparents as a gift for their 60th wedding anniversary, because I loved doing the research and collecting 60+ years of photos. Another was a scrapbook I made for my father's 60th birthday, again, because I loved the retro feel of it and looking back into the 1950's for a peek at what life was like back then. My third favorite is a scrapbook of a seashore trip our family took a few years ago. It was fun to have pictures of all the cousins playing together in the waves and on the sand, and I love all the ocean-themed papers and embellishments I used!

What are some of the drawback to the craft you find?

 I need more TIME! I have months in between projects because life happens!!

What are some of the enjoyments to the craft you find?

 It's very relaxing and I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finish a page! Instant gratification (almost!).

Do you use sketches?
 Sometimes I do but usually I don't.

Where do you find Inspiration?

 In my children, mostly!!

Do you belong on any "Design teams" now or in the past?

 No.

When you loose your "mojo" how do you get it back?

 I look thru old or recent photos and have a bunch printed. Just thinking about what I can do with those photos and knowing I'm archiving our family memories gets me back into it.

Can you briefly describe how your process of creating begins? Such as with color, theme, etc choice?

 Sometimes it's the photos that start the process, but other times, I could be looking through a crafting catalog or browsing in a craft store, and I'll come across a paper or even a sticker that I love, and that sets me off!

What are your top 3 favorite tools?

Embossing tool, rubber stamps and my paper cutter!

What are your Top 3 favorite embellishments?

 Stickers, brads and embossing powders.

What are your some ideas you share with others?

 I haven't really had the opportunity to do a lot of sharing, but maybe being a part of this group will allow me to do more of that!

What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in this crafting?

 Just let the mood strike you and go with whatever you are feeling!

Any organizational tips you'd like to share?

 LOL don't be as unorganized as I am! But seriously, have a system for all your paper, embellishments and tools, even if it is separate bins. If you don't have a system of some sort, I feel like your creativity can't flow as well.

Any Budget Cost cutting tips?

 I use the computer sometimes and print out words or letters I want to use instead of buying stickers sometimes. And always wait for a sale or a coupon!

 I have not yet started a page for crafting, but I do have a website for my PartyLite business

Short Bio ~ what you can include, add more if you think of more

Age, Married, children, Schools, Occupation, where you grew up, where you lived, where you live now, favorite things like food, colors, places, etc. Involved in any other crafting or non-crafting activities?  

I am 32 years old and I live in MN.  I am married and I have been for 14 1/2 years.  I could say I married my high school sweetheart, but he didn't go to high school with me even though we dated all though high school.  His name is Jeff and he is my soul mate, best friend, and love of my life. He is my rock and balances me out perfectly most days.  He is a compassionate, loving, wonderful daddy to our 4 children.  We have a 13 year old daughter, 10 year old son, 6 year old son, and 3 year old son.  I love each and everyone of them.  They are wonderful children and I am blessed to be their mom.   It's tiresome and exhausting but I wouldn't have it any other way.  They each teach me so much about myself and I am loving watching them grow up into who God has created them to be.  I am a christian and I strive to reflect Jesus in all that I am.  I fall many times but "Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes."  I was born in North Dakota and then I lived here and there as a kid.  When I was 12 we ended up in small town, USA (rural MN).  It was alright.  I live in the City now and I love being close to everything.  I do love the small town feel of my city, but it's not so small that everyone knows everything about everyone.

 I love chocolate - especially dark chocolate.  I love ice cream (peppermint bon bon is my favorite!).  I love to eat Mexican food or anything spicy like that.  I love the North Shore of MN.  If I could travel anywhere it would either Europe (Ireland, Italy, England, Paris), or a tropical Island.  I've never been out of the country so that is on my bucket list.  

Our family loves to camp and we have a tradition of camping once every summer in our yard and we make it our state park.  Salovich State Park!  It's great and I'm thankful all our kids love to camp too.  I like to read.  The most recent good books that I have read are The Girl with Dragon Tattoo (all three of those books).  I usually spend my evenings before bed reading.  I don't get much done that way because I fall asleep. I like to exercise, and decorate my house too.  We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen (actually we're paying someone to do it for us) and I'm so excited to have it finished and paint the rest of the house too!   I am also getting into photography.  I really have loved taking pictures since I got my first camera when I was 10.  I love see the results and I enjoy the creativity that comes with photography.  

What is your favorite Craft?  

My favorite craft is scrapbooking.  I LOVE to scrapbook!  

How Did Discover Scrapbooking (or Craft?)

Scrapbooking is something I discovered via the mail.  I got a mailing for Precious moments scrapbooking stuff.  At the time I was a stay at home mom with no car and I didn't have internet.  I really didn't even know there was such a thing until I saw the brochure.  I thought, "Wow!  I want to do that with my pictures!"  So I sent in the flyer and received monthly mailings of all the supplies I needed to make a couple pages.  

How did you learn to do Scrapbooking (or Craft?)

I learned on my own.  I looked at pictures on the kits that came in the mail.  I had no idea about technique or that you could buy pre cut letters and pictures.  If I saw something I liked I free hand drew it which took forever!  Eventually I heard of Creative Memories, and learned that Michaels sold a bunch of scrapbook stuff.  

How Long have you been Scrapbooking (or Crafting?)   I have been scrapbooking for 13 years now.  My daughter was just about 4 months old when I started.  I am still working on my daughters 1st year!  eek!

What "style" would you describe your Personal crafting?

 I like simple and elegant.  I don't like a lot of clutter on my pages but I want them to look beautiful.  It's a balancing act.  I scrapbook to create a beautiful way to preserve my family's memories.  I strive to create a legacy for my family through scrapbooks.  I want the emphasis to be on the pictures themselves while having a beautiful layout to present them on.  

Do you do any Digital Scrapbooking or other digital media art?  

I have not tried digital scrapbooking but I have done photo books through shutterfly so help catch me up a little.  

What are some of the drawback to the craft you find?

I guess the biggest drawback that comes to mind is $.  Products and supplies are hard to keep up with sometimes.  I should buy stock in the crafting supply industry.  ha!  Another drawback is time.  It is so elusive.  With 4 kids and husband it's tough sometimes to find time to scrap.  I am still on my daughter's 1st year and she's 13.  I have found over the years that it's much easier for me to scrap chronologically rather than skipping around.  

What are some of the enjoyments to the craft you find?  

Scrapbooking is so relaxing to me.  I love being able to forget the world while being creative.  I love to know I'm creating a legacy for my family by preserving family memories in a beautiful (most of the time) way.  I also enjoy the friendships and networking I've formed via facebook and blogs.  The inspiration I find from these creative people is awesome!  

Do you use sketches?  

I have used sketches a few times.  They come in handy when my mojo is gone.  

Where do you find Inspiration?  

Sometimes I find it via blogs and facebook fan pages, other times it just just comes to me.  I'll stare at pictures and thumb through a stack of pictures waiting.  I'll look through my other pages that I've done.  

Do you belong on any "Design teams" now or in the past?  

Not yet.  I would LOVE to be part of a design team!  

When you loose your "mojo" how do you get it back?  

I usually just need to browse blogs and see what others are doing.  Usually that sparks the fire.  Then that idea spills into other ideas.  I love it when I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head!  

Can you briefly describe how your process of creating begins? Such as with color, theme, etc choice?  

I start with pictures.  I look at the pictures and try to get a feel for the emotions it brings to mind.  Silly, funny, sweet, romantic, sentimental.  Then a vision of look I'm aiming for starts forming in my head and I kinda just go from there.  I usually look through the supplies I have to see what color papers would work, what embellishments I have that fit, what cartridges or cutting files I have that work.  One cartridge that I have used a lot for my daughter is the Storybook Cart.  For some reason I just love that one.  I've also used the stamping cartridge a lot.  

What are your top 3 favorite tools?

MY CRICUT for sure!!  Then I'd have to say my xyron sticker makers.  They are so handy for tiny stuff and intricate pieces.  My Gypsy!!  It opens up a whole new world of creating with the cricut carts that you have.  One more tool I love is set of cricut tools.  I love them and they really do come in handy when picking pieces up of sticky mats.

What are your Top 3 favorite embellishments?

 I love jewels, ribbon, and flowers!  

What are your Top 5 ideas you share with others?

 I don't know that I have ideas that are that original.  I guess 1. -layers!  They add dimensions and it's a good way to add color and textures.  2.  don't clutter that pages. I like the emphasis to be on the pictures themselves and when the pictures begin to disappear into the page I know I've added to much detail to the rest of the pages.  You'll know the balance when you see it.  3. step out of the box.  try new ways to display pictures or items like cards and mementos.  use tags that slip out of pictures, add dimension behind some embellishments.  4.try inking edges.  I'm new to inking but I love the look it gives to frames and the edges of embellishments.  5. use a mix of solid colors and coordinating patterns.  play with the combinations before cutting and adhering.  

What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in this crafting?

Be patient and be yourself.  If you natural bent is scrapbook layouts, try to incorporate tips, techniques, and challenges into what you do best.  Don't be afraid of failure.  Everyone has those days where their creations could look better.  Try new things that aren't your natural bent.  You'll learn new things about yourself and your craft.  

Any organizational tips you'd like to share?

organize your papers by color. It's not only helpful when looking for a color that you need, but it looks pretty too.  I have access to my always used tools on my desk, and the rest are organized by what they are (pens, scissors, adhesives,) Shoe boxes have been helpful and they are cheap.  

Any Budget Cost cutting tips?

Like I said above, shoe boxes are a great for storage.  I needed a shelf to go under my desk and I used an old shoe rack with shelves that were flat.  I love to save my scraps and they work great for paper piecing.  

What made you decide to start a Blog, website, Facebook Fan page, etc?

 I first opened my etsy shop in September.  I had been considering it for a long time (since I got my cricut in 2009) but didn't really have the reason.  It hit me in September when I was talking with a friend from church during a planning meeting.  We talked about scrapbooking and card making.  She said she makes cards but doesn't really scrapbook because she doesn't like unfinished products.  She felt card making was something she could accomplish with a finished product.  It hit me that I could make pre made pages that other people could buy and all they would have to do is add their own pictures.  After I opened my etsy shop, I opened a facebook fan page.  I realized that I should have a blog so I could participate in challenges and blog hops so about a month later I opened my blog.

I have always been interested in paper. I am mostly self-taught but I found a fun group of Stampin' Up ladies that are great resources.

I do design work: websites, logos, blog designs etc.

My vacation albums are always my favorite.

Not enough time to do it!

Total stress relief. I can craft for hours.

Sometimes, but most of the time no.

In real life. I like to compliment my pictures with a page that is not overpowering but has elements of what is in the pictures. For example, textures, colors, tones etc.

Stop whatever I am working on and come back at a later time.

I always start by looking at the picture. I always like to choose the colors first and then the stamp set that I am going to use to compliment it.

ATG, my computer and all my punches.

Flowers, glitter and rhinestones

What are your some ideas you share with others?

The best glue or tape for the job

What advice would you give to a newbie just starting in this crafting? 

Start simple with just a few integral tools. It is amazing what you can come up with when you have limited resources because you have to be so creative to get the most out of what you have. Sometimes, I even limit myself to certain things when I work on a page just to see how far I can push it.

Any organizational tips you'd like to share?
Label your stamp pads and organize by type not by color.

Any Budget Cost cutting tips?
I don't buy any patterned paper. I use my stamps to create the paper I need because the possibilities are endless!

I finally had time! I had been meaning to start it for a long time but my day job was always getting int he way :)
