10 Gifts in 10 Days! Day 9

Birthday DIY Calendar Sign/Wall Decor

This is my first one of these to make. I have several others in progress but not even close to being finished. This one is almost complete, but not quite. I'm undecided on what to do for the "names" & "dates" and how to "attach" them together under each month. I have several ideas I'm working on but as usual my pain gets in my way of my creativity. You can find many different designs on "Pintrest" which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it cause it gets my creative juices flowing and I've learned many new things. I hate it because somehow I loose days at a time being on there, I start out on Mon. with my cup of coffee and next thing I know its Thurs and time for bed. Just kidding its not that bad but I do loose alot of hours "browsing" and "pinning." Anyways, Just do a search for "birthday signs" and you'll see where I got my inspiration from!

I had this wooden "plaque/sign", I purchased years ago at Craft Warehouse. I painted the "sign" a dark brown (its not as dark as it looks in the picture), the background paper is a lt. blue with white gloss flowers. For the "birthdays" word and mats, I used gold flower "embossed" paper, blue cardstock for the mat. I used white card stock and a sizzix flourish die to make the flourish die cuts. The "letters" are from Sizzix alphabet dies and I used "lagoon" (i think thats the name?) CTMH Cardstock for the shadow letters, and CTMH print (forget what collection the paper is from) for the top letters. I inked all the edges of all the papers because i'm an "inkaholic", if I don't ink the edges, i have this compulsion to do so and its bad. Its not that things don't look good if their not inked but if its mine and I don't i loose sleep over it no matter how great it turned out. Anyways, I then used CTMH Stamp set, Cherish the Day (S1111),  for the "months", i thought it worked perfect for this. Sadly, i havd this stamp set for years and this is only the 2nd time I've used it.

When I finally finish this sign I will post my final choice of how I decided on the "names" & "Dates" and how I decided to go about attaching them.

Until Next Time...

Jolee's Series Part 2 ~ School Days Theme

Continuing on with the Jolee's Series, we are now moving on to Part 2 ~ School Days. Part One was Disney Princesses. Once I start feeling better and can talk without my throat hurting or sounding like I have a frog in my throat I will be adding video tutorials until then, unfortunately I am stuck with just picture and written posts.

For the first Part of Part 2 School Days, I thought we'd start with "First Day", thinking best to start at the beginning of a Child's days of school :)

Need Jolee's check out Rachel's yardsale HERE or her Etsy Store HERE Let her know I (The Scrapoholic) sent you.

You can also check out my yardsale HERE and my CTMH Website HERE for CTMH products

Of course I used Jolee's Boutique 3 Dimensional stickers, along with other products to make my layout. I didn't do a sketch on this one this time. I used a pre-existing partially done layout I was working on that needed finishing touches and of course the Jolee's First Day was perfect!

As you can see, I changed up the title, I didn't like the yellow with the pinking edge under the First Day nuetral/beige colored cardstock. I used my undu to safely remove it and put a different simple chocolate cardstock layer under to go with the colors I was already using. I added the lil embellishments to the paper and saved some for other pages I plan to do later.

30 Days of Handmade Gift Giving Blog Hop ~ Day 24 Project 2

This is my 2nd project for today, normally its jsut one project but with it being Thanksgiving I thought I'd add some extras for those who aren't going out on Black Friday and are staying home to be safe! :P

If you missed Project one click HERE

Here are some more of the Poinsettia Paper Wreaths I've made. I made some last year too and I just love making these, they are very easy, fun and festive!  I simply cut out the base of the wreath usually in green cardstock, so it looks like leaves. Then I cut out a ton of large and small poinsettia flowers, then emboss them using several different emboss folders. Since I use CTMH cardstock which has a white core I then sand the flowers to bring out the white, but not all of them some I just leave. Then i do either sand or ink the edges of the petals around the flower. Then I take a pen or pencil and round the tips of the petals. I use 3D glue dots to pop up the small flower on top of the large flower then use either silk or paper smaller flowers for the center and plop either a brad or rhinestone or a pearl in the center. Then I arrange the flowers on the base I already cut by using large glue dots sometimes I use two depending on how large I cut the flowers.

Check out my Video Tutorial from last year HERE
